The recent update of Pinball HD brought two new tables. Unlike Red Planet which had been advertised for months before his release the new tables were (to me at least) a surprise. The first table is Fantasy
it has a medieval theme, with, unmistakeable a tribute to Game of Thrones, a dragon. I cannot say that I did particularly like the game. And I find that it has some unnecessarily moving parts (a little bit like the Zen pinballs).
The second table is Zombie Attack
(I guess, I do not have to explain what the theme of the game is about). This is a table that I did love a lot. It is funny, there are plenty of things to do, and since the ball does not drain too easily, you can enjoy gameplay for a long time.
Moreover, since, provided you accept to watch some ads, you can try both tables for free, I suggest that you give these new tables a try.
The recent update of Zen pinball introduced a new table of the Marvel pinball line: Ant-Man. As a rule I do not like Marvel pinballs a lot but I must admit that Ant-Man is one of the best.
The table is excellent as always, with superb graphics and fluid physics. For one the useless animations are kept yo a minimum and, in nay case, they do not interfere with the gameplay.
I did not have the intention to buy this pinball and thus I looked around for a video of real gameplay. I suggest that you do the same if you wish to make up your own mind concerning the game. My feeling is that Ant-Man is a difficult table but worth the time invested into learning it. As for myself I will pass once more, all the more so, since I am really progressing at Addams Family and cannot think about playing any other pinball at this time.
The recent update of ASK Homework Zaccaria pinball line introduced a new table, bringing the total to an impressive 38, getting closer to the magic number of 47 (the total number of Zaccaria pinballs known to have existed). Only Farsight can boast about having a larger collection, with their current count of 60. The new Zaccaria table is Universe
I gave it a try and my opinion is the same as for almost all Zaccaria pinballs. They are too simplistic to my taste (despite my preferences for oldies). Also, I have tried to adjust the table slope and the flipper strength so as to make the game a little bit less sluggish. Unfortunately there was no appreciable improvement.
Since you can play any Zaccaria pinball thanks to the free play mode, which has been recently implemented, I suggest that you give Universe a try and see for yourself if you like it or not.
While updating the apps in my iPad I stumbled upon the update of Zaccaria Pinball. By pure curiosity I decided to have a look at what this update corresponded to. I must say that I was impressed. Have a look for yourself at the screen capture below.
The people at ASK Homework have gone back and examined their released tables one by one fixing all the small annoying bugs. Some months back (or was it last year?) I had decided that I was not going to comment anymore on the ASK Homework pinballs as a few bad quality tables had irritated me at the time. However as the Zaccaria collection tables started been released I decided that they were deserving a review in this blog. Of course, the Zaccaria line is a really minor one, no masterpieces are to be expected, but still reviving a real pinball collection under digital form is meritorious. The last update shows clearly that the people at ASK Homework are taking their job seriously.
By the way, the first line in the screen capture of the update says that a “free play” mode is now available just by accepting to view some adds. To my eyes this is reason enough to give the Zaccaria pinballs a try.
